The Learning and Development Assistant Manager is responsible for working collaboratively with and assisting the Manager of Learning and Development and others company-wide to design, develop, deliver, and maintain a high-quality training and development program for employees and leaders.  Incorporates instructional design theory and practices into formal and informal training and development initiatives to improve the productivity, performance, and enhance employee engagement and retention. This person will collaborate across the organization to ensure that Learning and Development initiatives meet organizational culture and scale capabilities. The focus will be on building organizational brand and engaging our employees.


Essential Duties


Development and Design

  • Collaborate effectively with LivWell Learning and Development manager, subject matter experts (SMEs) and other managers to develop engaging, relevant and effective training.
  • Design and develop learning solutions and programs applying adult learning principles and systematic instructional design to create learning content that best fits the needs of the learner (includes online, classroom, virtual instructor-led training and blended learning content).
  • Prepare organizational and departmental training plans, including Business Plan, Scope Documents, Design Documents, budget, etc.
  • Conduct research necessary to develop course content, including the alignment of work flow, work procedures and work guidelines.
  • Prepare course materials including agenda, facilitator, participant and user guides, checklists and acknowledgements, presentations, and job aids using Delt’s systems.
  • Validate course effectiveness with Delt managers, subject matter experts, and through pilot presentation and/or presentation and course evaluation.



  • Coordinates and schedules training including facilitators, participants and facility set-up.
  • Manage digital creative projects, ensuring projects are clearly communicated to design team and delivered on time and within budget.
  • Obtain and/or develop effective training materials; implement creative ways to provide training and development with group and varied learning types, including coaching, e-learning, classroom, job-shadowing and workshops.
  • Facilitate and co-facilitate instructor-led and one-on-one training.
  • Track and measure program success, including post-training evaluation and results; make recommendations for optimization and future development opportunities
  • Design and implement learning measurements and metrics systems to track and report the effectiveness of the individual training initiatives and overall program.
  • Ensure timely and accurate tracking and reporting.

Compliance and Reporting

  • Comply with and document workflow and work procedures ensuring that appropriate controls and audit are in place to ensure data and processing integrity.



  • Work collaboratively with all Delt’s employees and business partners.
  • Assists in managing the L&D team, overseeing work and performance.


Project Management

  • Develop and manage projects, including defining project scope, resources and achieving deliverables on time and within budget.


Other Duties

  • Other duties as assigned.



  • Works under the general supervision of the Learning and Development Manager.
  • This person coaches and mentors exempt and nonexempt employees. This person does not supervise employees directly.


Job Qualifications


Work Experience

  • A minimum of 3 years of experience providing leadership and technical expertise for company-wide training and development programs, working in human resources, business administration, customer service, or related profession.
  • Knowledge of the principals and practices of instructional design and learning theories.
  • Experience with multi-media methods content delivery and supporting systems and databases.
  • Experience with technical writing.
  • Demonstrated client service and facilitation capabilities.
  • Demonstrated project management capabilities.
  • Knowledge of various computer systems and applications.
  • Must be able to secure appropriate work credentials from the Colorado Department of Labor Marijuana Enforcement Division.



  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, Business, or related field or equivalent experience required. Coursework in Instructional Design, Organizational Development, Human Resources or related field preferred.
  • Desire to obtain certifications in training and development preferred.

Working Conditions


  • Able to use a computer for extended periods of time.
  • Able to move about a typical office, manufacturing, or retail environment
  • Able to perform general office managerial and administrative activities.
  • Able to lift and move up to 25 pounds occasionally.
  • Regular and on-time attendance.
  • Hours regularly exceed 40 hours per week.
  • Occasional travel by conventional means including aircraft, motor vehicle and the like within the region and to other locations as required.
