This position is responsible for managing and directing the Irrigation department with effective leadership and coordination to achieve the daily objective, while simultaneously developing the department to continuously improve and progress.  This role is responsible for managing and supervising the Irrigation department team members, supplies, and the Argus fertigation and irrigation systems.  The Supervisor of Irrigation role must lead and participate in their job with professionalism, compliance, and safety, consistently.  The Supervisor of Irrigation will report to the Manager of Production.  This role will support the Manager of Production to supervise and manage the Irrigation department, while working in cohesion with the other Production departments to achieve most effective cultivation results.


Essential Duties


Leadership Procedures & Tasks

  • Oversee operation of the Argus fertigation system and irrigation system.
  • Oversee and keep records of maintenance for all department equipment and machinery.
  • Coordinate water sampling for EC, pH, and alkalinity throughout all phases of cultivation.
  • Facilitate appropriate adjustments and maintenance to the system in order to ensure proper plant health and growth.
  • Closely monitor garden health, diagnose nutrient and plant health issues, review through observation and data, all aspects of growth, and yields.
  • Work closely with the Manager of Production to maintain a clear understanding of workflow throughout the cultivation areas and determine daily prioritization of all tasks.
  • Ensure Irrigation Lead is informed of daily priorities and clearly communicates with Irrigation Technicians.
  • Facilitate and plan the work of the Irrigation department employees, by providing answers to questions, as well as providing them with the tools and resources they need to perform their tasks.
  • Oversee prioritization, completion, and documentation of all tasks performed by the Irrigation Technicians as instructed.
  • Executing all paperwork in order to keep the Irrigation Department staffed and up to date in the time card software.
  • Must plan and delegate supervision of Irrigation Technicians to ensure all work is being done properly and efficiently, in accordance with our SOPs.
  • Train and manage employees, including planning, assigning and directing work, examining performance and conducting evaluations, annual reviews, coaching, disciplining, addressing complaints and resolving employee issues.
  • Monitor employee attendance, time off balances, time off requests, and all other attendance related processes.
  • Provide team leadership as well as perform a variety of technical tasks related to the assigned area of responsibility.
  • Ensure staff has a complete understanding of and alignment to Delt’s vision, mission and values to maintain a positive work environment and a high level of morale.
  • Ensure all staff follow company defined protocols and enforce all company policies and regulations.
  • Work collaboratively with all Delt’s employees and business partners. Bring any and all safety, security, and plant health concerns forward through the proper channels including and not limited to the Manager of Production, Safety leadership, Compliance leadership, Security leadership, and/or General Manager of Operations.
  • Assist management team with developing and managing projects, including defining project scope, resources and achieving deliverables on time and within budget.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Manager of Production and General Manager of Operation.


Workspace and Material Maintenance

  • Plan and carry out through the support of the Manager of Production to guide and train Irrigation department members to maintain proper organization of the department.
  • Monitor and report any noticeable environmental or plant health concerns to the Manager of Production
  • Keep records on equipment and garden data up to date.
  • Work closely with facilities team to maintain proper operation of all equipment related to the irrigation department
  • Ensure that sufficient supplies for the Irrigation department are available.
  • Contribute and support co-workers by maintaining a safe, and well-organized work area.


Compliance and Reporting

  • Plan and carry out the managing and guidance to have the department follow all instructed state and federal compliance regulations and adjust practices as necessary to conform with changes in regulations.
  • Report any improper action of compliance regulations.
  • Following instructed procedures will maintain compliance and safety. Any compliance or safety mistake or error created must be reported to the leadership of the department.



  • Works under the direct supervision of the Manager of Production.
  • This person will be asked to manage and supervise the Irrigation department.



Job Requirement

  • This position is expected to manage and supervise the employees of the Irrigation department to perform duties at a highly productive and efficient pace, consistently.
  • To apply for a new position, employees must have served within this position for at least one year before submitting the Grow Transfer Request form to direct supervisor (unless otherwise approved by the Manager of department).


Working Conditions

  • Able to use a computer and/or hand tools while sitting or standing for extended periods of time.
  • Able to move about a typical office, manufacturing and warehouse environment.
  • Working in warmer, agricultural conditions, wearing cover-all uniforms for protective layering.
  • Able to kneel, bend, reach, rotate, and stoop on an intermittent to regular basis daily.
  • Able to lift and move up to 50 pounds occasionally.
  • Consistent on-time attendance for all scheduled shifts. Prepared for over 40+ hour work weeks within this position, regularly.
  • Handle and operate spray equipment for pesticide applications.
  • Occasional travel by conventional means including aircraft, motor vehicle and the like within the region and to other locations as required.


Job Qualifications


Work Experience

  • One-year experience in an Irrigation department preferred.
  • Experience with a fertigation and irrigation system is preferred. Experience with Argus systems preferred.
  • Three years of work experience in a related industry or work environment.
  • Previous leadership experience in a related industry or work environment required.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced production environment is preferred.
  • Demonstrates ability to consistently meet productivity and performance requirements.
  • Demonstrates high attention to detail.
  • Demonstrates professional and respectful demeanor towards others. Demonstrates respectful verbal and written communication capability.
  • Knowledge and background in cannabis cultivation required.
  • Ability to utilize and modify electronic documents.
  • Able to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Knowledge of local, state, and federal employment laws relating to key areas of responsibility.
  • Must be able to secure appropriate work credentials from the State of Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs Marijuana Regulatory Agency Enforcement Division.



  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
