Purpose

This position is responsible for managing and directing the IPM department with effective leadership and coordination to achieve the weekly objective, while simultaneously developing the department to continuously improve and progress.  This role is responsible for managing and supervising the IPM department team members, supplies, and pesticide application program.  The Supervisor of IPM role must lead and participate in their job with professionalism, compliance, and safety, consistently.  The Supervisor of IPM will report to the Manager of Production.  This role will support the Manager of Production to supervise and manage the IPM department, while working in cohesion with the other Production departments to achieve most effective cultivation results.



Essential Duties

 

Leadership Procedures & Tasks

  • Oversee and develop the Integrated Pest Management program.
  • Implement a program consisting of pesticide treatments, beneficial insects, cultural control, and mechanical removal of pests and affected material.
  • Assist with providing effective leadership to employees to ensure a complete understanding of and alignment to Delt’s vision, mission and values to maintain a positive work environment and a high level of morale.
  • Ensure all compliance requirements are met including facilitation of the immediate adjustment of practices to accommodate the dynamic changes that regularly occur. 
  • Ensuring all staff is following company defined protocols. Enforce all company policies and regulations.
  • Manage employees, including planning, assigning and directing work, examining performance and conducting evaluations, coaching, supervising, disciplining, addressing complaints and resolving employee issues.
  • Provide technical leadership and guidance to team members to ensure daily work, productivity, and quality goals are met. 
  • Assist in establishing initial and ongoing training for employees to ensure an adequate level of understanding regarding guidelines, policies and procedures.  
  • Monitor employee attendance, time off balances, time off requests, and all other attendance related processes.
  • Perform employee reviews annually.
  • Work collaboratively with all Delt’s employees and business partners.  Bring any and all safety, security, and plant health concerns forward through the proper channels including and not limited to the Manager of Production, Safety leadership, Compliance leadership, Security leadership, and/or General Manager of Operations.
  • Assist with developing and managing projects, including defining project scope, resources and achieving deliverables on time and within budget.
  • Ensure effective and appropriate communication with team members to increase team unity and operative flow.
  • Determine daily prioritization of all tasks by collaborating with the Lead of IPM and Manager of Production in an effort to maintain smooth garden cadence.
  • Facilitating appropriate adjustments to the program in order to ensure pest pressures are prevented or suppressed. 
  • Planning and managing schedules for cleaning and maintaining equipment, supplies, and machinery.
  • Responsible for prioritization, completion, and documentation of all tasks performed by the IPM Technicians as instructed.
  • Executing all paperwork in order to keep the IPM Department staffed and up to date in the time card software. 
  • Update and track all required information daily.
  • Must plan and delegate constant supervision of IPM Technicians to ensure all work is being done properly and efficiently, in accordance with our SOPs.
  • Facilitating the work of the IPM department employees, by providing answers to questions, as well as providing them with the tools and resources they need to perform their tasks.
  • Clear understanding of workflow throughout the cultivation areas.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Manager of Production and General Manager of Operation.

 

Workspace and Material Maintenance

  • Plan and carry out through the support of the Manager of Production to guide and train IPM department members to maintain proper organization of the department.
  • Monitor and report any noticeable environmental or plant health concerns to the Manager of Production
  • Ensuring that sufficient supplies for the Farm department are available.
  • Contribute and support to associates with a safe, well maintained, and organized work area.

 

Compliance and Reporting 

 

  • Plan and carry out the managing and guidance to have the department follow all instructed state and federal compliance regulations.

 

  • Maintain paperwork required by the Michigan Department of Agriculture.
  • Record and track all treatments carried out by IPM Technicians. Organize for governmental department review.
  • Report any improper action of compliance regulations.
  • Following instructed procedures will maintain compliance and safety.  Any compliance or safety mistake or error created must be reported to the leadership of the department.



Supervision

  • Works under the direct supervision of the Manager of Production.
  • This person will be asked to manage and supervise the IPM department.



Job Requirement

  • This position is expected to manage and supervise the employees of the IPM department to perform duties at a highly productive and efficient pace, consistently.
  • To apply for a new position, employees must have served within this position for at least nine months before submitting the Grow Transfer Request form to direct supervisor



Working Conditions 

  • Able to use a computer and/or hand tools while sitting or standing for extended periods of time.
  • Able to move about a typical office, manufacturing and warehouse environment.
  • Working in warmer, agricultural conditions, wearing cover-all uniforms for protective layering.
  • Able to kneel, bend, reach, rotate, and stoop on an intermittent to regular basis daily.
  • Able to lift and move up to 50 pounds occasionally.
  • Consistent on-time attendance for all scheduled shifts.  Prepared for over 40+ hour work weeks within this position, regularly.
  • Handle and operate spray equipment for pesticide applications.
  • Occasional travel by conventional means including aircraft, motor vehicle and the like within the region and to other locations as required.



Job Qualifications

 

Work Experience

  • One year experience in an IPM department preferred.  At least six months experience in a leadership position to apply.  Must be in good standing for the last three months at least to apply. 
  • Three years of work experience in a related industry or work environment.
  • Previous leadership experience in a related industry or work environment required.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced production environment preferred. 
  • Demonstrates ability to consistently meet productivity and performance requirements. 
  • Demonstrates high attention to detail.
  • Demonstrates professional and respectful demeanor towards others.  Demonstrates respectful verbal and written communication capability. 
  • Knowledge and background in cannabis cultivation required.
  • Ability to utilize and modify electronic documents.
  • Able to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodation. 
  • Knowledge of local, state, and federal employment laws relating to key areas of responsibility.
  • Must be able to secure appropriate work credentials from the State of Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs Marijuana Regulatory Agency Enforcement Division.

 

Education

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
